Le film nous projettera dans une univers cyberpunk futuriste, dans lequel les humains augmentés, des cyborgs, sont désormais monnaie courante.   Le Major Motoko Kusanagi (Scarlett Johansson) qui fait partie de la section 9 traque un cybercriminel, le Marionnettiste, qui hacke l’esprit des cyborgs via le Réseau Numérique mondial (l’évolution d’Internet). Mais les choses ne sont peut-être pas ce qu’elle semblent être…   Le long métrage qui sortira le 29 Mars 2017 en France rassemblera un casting prestigieux avec Scarlett Johansson (le Major Motoko Kusanagi), mais aussi Juliette Binoche (Docteur Ouelet), Michael Pitt (Kuze) ou encore Takeshi Kitano (Daisuke Aramaki).
